Happy, sad, hungry, not hungry, stressed, not stressed, bored, snacky….The cure was food and drink. 

As I became fatter and fatter venturing into being clinically obese and soon into morbid obesity, I was MISERABLE.

I felt physically, mentally and emotionally awful.

I hated how I looked in pictures.

I was winded easily doing the simplest things including playing with my young kids. 

I tugged at my shirts to try and hide my belly.

I bought gas station crap with cash instead of cards so my wife wouldn’t know. 

I binged on junk at night when everyone else was asleep. 

My stress levels were high and my libido was cratered.

I was bloated, low energy and ***depressed*** about where I was headed. 

I hit rock bottom with my weight on December 30th, 2018.

After avoiding the mirror for most of that year, I finally took a good look one night while brushing my teeth with my son. 

HUGE belly.

Man boobs.

Love handles.

Multiple chins and NO jawline. 

What got me though….What finally broke me were my stick like arms.

Standing there taking it all in with my son beside me, I shouted internally….

‘I AM FUCKING DONE!!!’

And I was!

The next day I got to work.

Over 18 months I pieced things together step by step to lose 35lb. A bit after that I shed another 11lb to go from 220lb to 174lb.

MY OWN STORY

After becoming a new dad, I let myself go. I began overeating, not prioritizing exercise, hardly sleeping, and choosing convenience over quality every chance I got. I became the dad I used to tell myself I would never become. Fat, lazy, and weak. I ended up gaining a total of 40lbs in 2.5 years before I finally hit rock bottom on December 30, 2018. 

 

I knew I needed to change my lifestyle or I would continue to live a miserable life, full of confidence issues and shame. In the middle of a beautiful family and great career, that just wasn’t acceptable anymore to have this gaping hole in my life.

 

The very next day on January 1, 2019, I walked a mile. One of the hardest things I have ever done. As I walked the final few feet, out of breath, exhausted, I remember thinking how much I HATED this feeling. The feeling of being weak and powerless against my own body. Unable to breath, almost ready to collapse because I was doing something as simple as walking… It infuriated me! 

 

Right there on the cold Winter concrete, I felt a fire inside myself I had not felt in years. A burning anger towards the way I have been living the last 2.5 years, and the man I had become due to MY poor choices *I* had made. I had reached the lowest point in my life and knew I had to make a change. 

 

Over 18 months of trial and error and an unwavering dedication to getting my life back in order, I made it happen.

 

Since January 1, 2019, I can proudly say I have lost 45 lbs, have gone from an XL to a M t-shirt, enjoy an incredible amount of energy, have only taken ONE nap in two years, and am now in the best shape of my life! As a FATHER OF THREE!!!

 

Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing about my life or the choices I made. I hated what I had become but I LOVE that obese, unfit, unhealthy version of myself who took those first steps to becoming what I am today. The old version of me with NO confidence, NO fitness, and NO hope of being able to take back control of my life. Because of *him*, I became the husband, father and man fulfilling my true potential! I have created a lifestyle that changed my life forever!

 

It has been great seeing the physical and mental changes that have taken place for me, but the true benefit of my transformation has had nothing to do with myself. Seeing how my transformation impacted my family has been the greatest experience of my life. My kids have a dad they can look up to as a positive role model in their lives, and my wife sees me as the strong and successful husband she married years ago. Making a change or taking a risk is always scary. I know exactly how you feel.  Remember, I was that obese dad who could barely walk without gasping for air! There were so many exercises that demoralized me and almost made me quit because I felt ashamed of myself for not being able to do them. For that reason, I don’t include the following exercises in my program, unless requested:

  3. Pushups 
  4. Crunches 
  5. Running 
  6. Or any other exercise that would make you feel the way I did when I first started! 

 

I value progress over perfection, so we will take baby steps through my effective and accessible training program that will help you build confidence first.  Allowing you to see what your body is truly capable of, and then build from there.

I got certified as a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Personal Trainer and am insured and incorporated as Isle of Fitness LLC.
